A Learning Day experience is an excellent way for students to experience MONA in person through a cross-discipline, educational approach. Students participate in three activities: a studio art activity, a creative writing lesson, and an interactive Museum tour. Learning activities are specially designed for the students' grade level and target specific exhibitions or selected artworks. Instructors have studio art, education, and/or docent training background.
Two-week advance notice is required; student number is limited. Cost is $125 for 3 activities and $100 for 2 activities. Limited funding is available to help offset the school's costs. Call for more information: (308) 865-8975, Kelley Dachtler, Director of Educational Programming.
Utilize the MONA collection and exhibitions conveniently in your classroom by taking a virtual trip to the Museum for a distance education lesson. Interact with knowledgeable docents and instructors as they connect various disciplines of study with art. The Docent team at MONA is an essential part of the Museum’s education program, and performs an important and far-reaching function: introducing and deepening the experience of the exhibitions for tour groups of all ages. As a Docent, you also benefit through special trainings and lectures by artists, art professionals, and community leaders; opportunities to be involved with special educational projects; and expanding your understanding of art. Being a member of the Docent team increases involvement with the University and the community, and promotes academic excellence through the arts.
Please call Kelley Dachtler, Director of Educational Programming, to learn more about becoming a MONA Docent: (308) 865-8975.
